The 43rd NN Marathon Rotterdam will go down in history as a very memorable edition. Not only because of the impressive tribute to world record holder Kelvin Kiptum, who died in an accident this year. Also by the Dutch record of winner Abdi Nageeye (2.04.45). In addition, Lee Towers sang the runners’ anthem You’ll never walk alone live for the last time and the outgoing mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb shook countless hands one last time.

Even without the sun, the NN Marathon Rotterdam had a heart-warming 42nd edition. With leading roles for, among others, the Belgian winner Bashir Abdi and the Dutch champions Abdi Nageeye and Anne Luijten. With the traditionally energizing Coolsingel as the highlight for all runners.
EXCESSIVE ORANGE PARTY ON THE COOLSINGEL AT THE 41ST NN MARATHON ROTTERDAM
Six months after the successful anniversary, the NN Marathon Rotterdam had another festive edition on Sunday April 10, the 41st edition. With Abdi Nageeye as the first Dutch winner ever and also with national records from him and Nienke Brinkman. “The bustling Coolsingel turned completely orange during this overwhelming edition of #demooiste,” says Remco Barbier, CEO of organizer Golazo Nederland.

There was a long wait, 930 days to be precise, but the anniversary edition of the NN Marathon Rotterdam turned out to be the party that had been hoped for. On a glorious autumn day, Bashir Abdi led the way in a sunny day full of records. The Belgian, third at the Olympic Games in Japan eleven weeks ago, triumphed in a European record of 2.03.36, which is also a course record, the fastest time ever run in the Netherlands and the second best performance of the year worldwide.
