The NN Marathon Rotterdam opens entries for its 44th edition today. The event enjoys great popularity, over 35,000 runners have already expressed their interest in participating in the running fest in recent months. It will be possible to register for the marathon distance and Business Runs on Sunday 13 April 2025 from 1pm. Registration for the other components will be possible from this autumn.
The advice to interested marathon runners is to register soon. At the previous edition, all 17,000 available start tickets were sold out within a week. For the 44th NN Marathon Rotterdam too, it is expected that the available start tickets will be sold out quickly. Participants who have registered for the interest list and Super Marathon Masters were informed earlier today.
Highlights
The NN Marathon Rotterdam has seen fine victories in recent editions. Public favourite Abdi Nageeye managed to improve his Dutch record in 2024 ahead of the Olympic marathon. In the history of the Rotterdam marathon, he is the only Dutch athlete to win twice in the Maas city. Just like in 2022, he managed to take the win on Sunday 13 April 2024 by improving his Dutch record (2.04.45).
The European record has been held by Belgium’s Bashir Abdi since 2021. Never has it been run faster than the course record in our country. Partly because of this top time, the NN Marathon Rotterdam is in the top 10 on the international list of fastest marathon cities. The female course record is held by Tiki Gelana who won in 2.18.58 in 2012. The fastest Dutch woman ever in Rotterdam was Nienke Brinkman, she became Dutch Champion in 2022 (2.22.51). Anne Luijten was the fastest Dutch woman last edition and took home the Dutch title.
What remains special is that every edition there are thousands of enthusiastic recreational runners at the start together with these top runners from home and abroad. All marathon runners run the same course along the Rotterdam highlights and finish after the top runners on the heroic Coolsingel.
Dutch Cancer Society – Run against cancer
The NN Marathon Rotterdam also supports KWF Kankerbestrijding this edition. Less cancer, more healing and a better quality of life for cancer patients. That is the goal of KWF Kankerbestrijding. Participants can make a difference by making a donation and/or creating an action page at KWF when registering.
